Nature's Wonders, in Rye, is signing up for January classes. We will
learn about the many birds that spend the winter in your backyard and
how to attract them. Children will make bird pudding to take home and
hear many Native American stories about the origins of some of the
common birds. We will make a Bird Kit complete with tools, to use on
our bird walks as well as different bird feeders to take home. Each
class will consist of story time, project, songs and nature hikes.
Birding is a great way for families to connect to nature, Learn and
have fun together.

Homemade Pretzels

Learn to make a tasty, healthy snack with this fun and easy yeast
dough. Children will mix the dough, learn a little of the
characteristics of yeast, knead the dough and form pretzels and then
enjoy this great snack.
Baking bread or other yeast doughs is a great way for families to enjoy time together. Children learn much from reading recipes,
learning math with numbers and fractions, and even science as they
observe the changes in the mixture.

Valentines for the birds

Children will have opportunities to observe backyard birds. There
will be time for painting birds, playing games, and singing songs.
Everyone will make some special Valentine treats to take home to
entice back yards birds to their window.

Groundhog Day

It's midwinter and time for the groundhog to come out of his den and
predict when spring will come. Join us as we learn more about
this creature that many of us have in our back yards. We will
have stories, make puppets and even act out the groundhog waking
up. As always there will be time for outside play.

All About Mammals

We will learn what makes a mammal a mammal and find which ones are
outside now. Children will have lots of opportunities to explore
both inside and outside. We will also learn what that most famous
mammal Punxsutawney Phil had to say. If it is sunny we will have
time to play with Shadows.
